Exhibition: Franz Lisztsʼ „Harmonies poétiques et religieuses“
Franz Liszt’s composition “Harmonies poétiques et religieuses”, first published in 1853, stands out as one of the pinnacles of his piano music. The “Harmonies” are a unique confessional work in which the artistic and ideological standards of probably the most fascinating personality in the history of music in the 19th century are manifested as a sonorous inner biography. As a companion piece to Saskia Giorgini’s complete performance of the ten-part cycle, the cabinet exhibition uses selected loans to take a vivid and in-depth look at the complex history of the work’s creation and impact.
Concept: Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Rathert (LMU München)
