Exhibition: Walter Niemann – Composer – Pianist – Author
This year’s exhibition, curated by Peter Seidle, sheds light on Walter Niemann (1876–1953), who was considered one of the foremost experts on the pianist scene in the first half of the 20th century. Born in Hamburg, and later a long-time resident of Leipzig, he came from an old family of church musicians in North Frisia; his father, the pianist Rudolf Niemann, was a student of Ignaz Moscheles, A. Marmontel, and Hans von Bülow.
