The pianist Marc-André Hamelin is celebrated worldwide for his unparalleled, consummate musicianship and brilliant piano playing. He is known for his interpretations of the core repertoire as well as his bold exploration of lesser-known works from the 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries. He regularly performs with the world’s leading orchestras and conductors and gives concerts in major concert halls and at festivals around the globe. Hamelin’s 2025/26 season takes him through North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia, offering a diverse mix of orchestral, recital, and chamber music engagements. He opens the season with a tour of Australia and Asia, where he will give concerts and recitals with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and the Wuxi, Ningbo, and Shenzhen Symphony Orchestras, as well as solo recitals in Adelaide, Xiamen, and Shenzhen. Highlights of his recitals include performances with the San Francisco Symphony, Chamber Music Pittsburgh, and the Keyboard Concerts in Fresno. His European engagements include Rhapsody in Blue with the Bavarian State Orchestra, Marx’s Piano Concerto with the Tonkünstler Orchestra of Lower Austria, and concerts with the Bremen Philharmonic, at Wigmore Hall, and at the Chipping Campden Festival. Hamelin, an exclusive artist with Hyperion Records, has released 92 albums to date, including notable recordings of a wide range of solo, orchestral, and chamber music. In 2025, Hyperion released “Found Objects / Sound Objects,” a recording of contemporary works. His recent, highly acclaimed recordings include Beethoven’s Hammerklavier Sonata, Op. 106, and Sonata in C Major, Op. 2 No. 3, as well as the quintets by Dvořák and Price with the Takács Quartet. Hamelin is also an acclaimed composer, having written over 30 works. Many of these works, including his études and the toccata on “L’homme armé,” are published by Edition Peters. Hamelin was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Association of Record Critics and received over 20 of its Quarterly Awards. His other accolades include eight Juno Awards and eleven Grammy nominations.
