Programme »Six Petits Concerts«3rd to 5th June 2022
Cancellation »Six Petits Concerts«
We deeply regret to inform you that we are compelled to cancel the concert series “Six Petits Concerts”. The current pandemic situation prevents the pianists from entering the country as well as a carefree concert experience for our audience. In the near future, we will provide you with further details concerning the tickets that have already been purchased. At the moment, we are trying to set an alternative date in June 2022 (Pentecost). However, because the preparations are still ongoing, we cannot make any binding statements yet. The same applies to our festival in August. We assume that it will take place and we are working out a corona-suitable version. We kindly ask you for your patience until the programme is presented and the presale can begin.
Thank you very much for your great interest which showed in the quick sell-out of the concerts. Since we were very happy about it, we’re looking forward to welcoming you soon!
After the cancellation of the 34th Festival “Rarities of Piano Music” last summer, due to the coronavirus pandemic, we concentrate our hope on 2021. As a kind of compensation, the special edition will try to fill the gap that has arisen. The title of the festival “Six Petits Concerts” (May 13-15, 2021) we chose in reference to Charles-Valentin Alkan’s so called concerts in the 1870s in the “Salle Érard” in Paris, with which he returned to the podium after a break of more than twenty years. Each of the six concerts of this extra-festival will feature a piece from Alkan’s lesser known 30 “Chants” – a small homage to the author whose title we borrowed and a mental brace that holds these concerts together.
Among the composers of the works that will be performed in the excitingly compiled programs are names that have never appeared in the festival programs in the past 33 years – names such as Mel Bonis, Deodat de Séverac, E.T.A. Hoffmann, Vianna da Motta, Hélène de Montgeroult, William Grant Still.
Start of ticket sale: 18th of December 2020
Our thanks go to the Association of Friends of Rarities of Piano music for supporting the »Six Petits Concerts«
